You can thank Gen-Z (and Tik Tok, but, hey, let’s not make this political) for the “unprecedented demand” that has the Dancing with the Stars tour headed to the Bass Concert Hall this week. As Shivani Gonzalez recently wrote for the New York Times, “in the past two seasons — after almost 20 years and 500 episodes — the show has grabbed hold of Gen Z viewers through its canny use of TikTok, casting of younger dance pros and the chance virality of ‘wow moments’ from routines.”

Stephen Nedoroscik, who is a “two-time NCAA national champion,” “four-time U.S. Nationals champion,” and Olympic Gold Medalist on the pommel horse—and also won a “Bronze medal in the men’s gymnastics team finals” at the Paris Olympics last year,” will host the event in Austin. Nedoroscik and his dance partner, Rylee Arnold (a 19 year-old professional dancer with 1.2 million TikTok followers who will perform live in Austin), posted “a slew of TikToks [with] more than six million views,” contributing to the renewed cultural clout of the show that is “massively popular with millions of fans watching our TV show each week” and is “the hottest tour ticket in the country.

What Is The Live Tour Like? Good Morning America recently took a film crew behind the scenes of the Dancing With The Stars Tour cast to find out.

  • Audience Perspective:
    • “The energy in the audience… was palpable and electric … and buzzing with excitement,” Peyton VanDerheyden recently wrote for Broadway World about a January tour stop in New York.
  • “Watching the TV show is brilliant, but when you see gravity-defying feats right in front of you and feel the exhilaration of some of the most powerful performances ever seen on the dance floor, it’s a whole new phenomenon,” Ryan Dowd, one of the show’s executive producers, recently told US Weekly.
  • Cast Perspective:
    • “It’s our only chance to interact with you guys who actually watch the show,” Ezra Rosa, the show’s newest professional dancer, told Good Morning America.
  • “The highlight is the finale—when you see the standing ovation and everyone has the biggest smiles on their faces,” Gleb Savchenko, one of the show's long-time professional dancers, told GMA.
