BBQ Austin returns March 6–7 for “the ultimate destination for food, fun, and family-friendly entertainment,” bringing together pitmasters from across the state to “showcase their culinary skills” in one of the most high-energy cook-offs in Texas. But it’s more than brisket and bragging rights—this is a full Rodeo Austin experience, blending competition, carnival, and community into a weekend built around what Austin does best.
What To Expect:
- Pitmasters & Competition: A full-scale cook-off where teams “show off your pit crews’ skills” and compete for top honors—while also raising money for Texas kids. There’s even a next-gen pipeline: the Junior Pitmaster competition challenges young cooks (ages 8–17) whose dishes will be judged on “Appearance, Taste, and Texture.”
- Fair & Carnival: This isn’t just a food event—it’s “Austin’s largest carnival with over 60 rides and games,” plus pony rides, a petting zoo, and classic fairground energy layered on top of the smoke and fire.
- Community: Part festival, part competition, the event invites everyone in—“whether you’re here for the savory BBQ, the thrilling attractions, or the festive atmosphere, BBQ Austin has something for everyone”—with vendors, live activity, and a weekend that feels distinctly, unapologetically Austin in its vibe.
