One of Austin’s most celebrated dining rooms teams up with one of California’s most respected cool-climate wineries for a night built for serious wine lovers. Emmer & Rye will host a six-course communal dinner guided by Andy Peay of Peay Vineyards on February 17, pouring a curated lineup that includes West Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, Scallop Shelf Pinot Noir, Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir, Les Titans Syrah, and special cellar selections.

Expect a welcome pour at 6:30, followed by dinner at 6:45 - an evening of immersive wine storytelling from Peay, thoughtfully paired with Emmer & Rye’s award-winning menu. The Michelin Guide describes Emmer & Rye as “always packed and humming,” praising its “well-designed and tightly focused” New American menu, in-house fermentation program, freshly ground heirloom grains, and deep ties to Texas farms.

Meet Andy Peay: Peay Vineyards co-founder Andy Peay didn’t start in wine—he started on Wall Street. After earning a BA from Dartmouth and working as a financial analyst, he left banking, traveled through Southeast Asia, and studied economic development at UC Berkeley. Then came the epiphany: over a perfectly paired cool-climate Syrah, his “brain lit up like a Christmas tree.” Wine was the future for Peay and he dove in fully—working harvest at Cain Vineyards in Napa, studying wine marketing at UC Davis, learning retail at The Jug Shop in San Francisco, and ultimately purchasing remote Sonoma Coast land with his brother Nick in 1996. They planted their first 30 acres in 1998, building Peay from the ground up. Today, Andy runs sales, marketing, and the broader vision—helping craft what the winery calls “timeless, evocative wines” from one of California’s most rugged, cool-climate regions.
