Each March, Austin becomes the center of the creative universe—and SXSW 2026 (March 12–18) is about to do it again. The globally recognized festival brings “thousands of visitors to Austin” each year for a week packed with music showcases, film premieres, panels, exhibitions, and special events that celebrate the future of culture and technology. Organizers promise “unparalleled discovery, learning, professional development, and networking with creatives from around the world.”

SXSW began in 1987, when a small group of Austinites believed the city’s creative community was “as talented as anywhere else on the planet, but … limited by a lack of exposure outside of Austin.” Their idea was simple but powerful: create an event that would “bring the outside world to Austin for a close-up view.” Nearly four decades later, SXSW still runs on that same ethos—bringing artists, filmmakers, technologists, and thinkers together to “meet, learn and share ideas… and maybe have a few once-in-a-lifetime experiences.”

As is the fest’s tradition, SXSW has roughly 500 bajillion things happening at the exact same time, so while you can’t see it all, here are some of the events, speakers, musicians, artists, and big ideas worth putting on your radar:
